Diary of a Manchester Mum

With two children and a part-time job, life's a constant juggle. Still, I love loading the kids up and getting us out to new places as well as old favourites. Here's my blog - sometimes funny, sometimes neurotic, but always honest.

I let Tom stay up and watch the 1st half of the Benfica v Man Utd Champions League Match last night.  Oh no is this a slippery slope to male domination of the television?  I'm going to have to buy a little telly for the kitchen so that I can watch ' The Great British Bake Off' in peace.

Over  breakfast Tom advised me that he is saving up for a Man Utd away kit.  At least I can put my baking skills to the test when he has a path sale this weekend which I know is on the cards. I don't know how generous the neighbours will be however when they find out they are lining the pockets of the Glaiysers rather than Children and Need or Comic Relief.

Back to School

One week in.

Already the demands for money have started.  Swimming lessons, milk money, dinner money, tennis lessons, theatre trip, MOSI trip, PTA film night. Never mind my friend just got her £6000 school fees bill for her first term, ouch!

Lily is unimpressed that she hasn't got new school shoes.  I have explained that she got some in May and they still fit her.  This does not seem reasonable to her as Olivia has new ones from The Trafford Center.  I was on the point of caving,  faced with a crying child each morning this week but then Tom announced that if Lily was getting new shoes then his shoes bought in August also needed replacing.  Solution:  bit of black shoe paint polished to army standards has tricked Lily into believing she has new shoes.

Tom has reverted to packed lunch again and has been enthusiastic to make his own lunch, which I thought was great until I discovered his lunch of a Nutella sandwich, Tunnocks tea cake and Penguin biscuit.
