Celebrate the 100 year anniversary of 'The Tale of Pigling Bland.' Meet the new piglets, listen to piggy tales from the storyteller and follow 'The Pigland Bland Quiz!' For this event, normal admission charges apply. 'The Tale of Pigling Bland'was published the year that Beatrix Potter married and settled down to farming life for good. One of her little black pigs was a household pet and features as the ‘perfectly lovely Pigwig,' who runs away with 'Pigling Bland!'

It's a fun way to help your baby's physical, communication and language development. Using music, movement and lots of sensory items this is a chance babies and carers to play, learn and develop new skills together. These fun classes are run by trained staff who will help you get your baby moving and communicating.

From 11am to 4pm, enjoy a Medieval Fayre at Tatton Park. Adults get in for £7.00, children (aged 4 to 15 years old)get in for £4.50, under 4's get in for free. The fayre, now in its 16th year , is popular with participants and visitors alike. There will be hundreds of re-enactors, over 40 authentic traders, artisans and victuallers. The fayre is one of the most atmospheric events in the living history calendar. Good food, ale, mead and wines will refresh the visitors and revive the battle weary troops! The show is set in a delightful green meadow with a river running through it. 'Each Peach Pear Plum' is a game of I spy for little ones and their families. With songs and music the production brings to life a variety of nursery rhyme characters played by a wide range of puppets, all on their way to Mother Hubbard’s for some Plum Pie. Showing at 1 pm and 3 pm, this performance is suitable for ages 3+.

This event is being hosted by 'The Manchester and District Orienteering Club.' Families and groups welcome, tickets are priced at £4 for adults and £2 for children. From 2 pm on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June, watch the strange and wonderful characters populating the streets of Chester! The parade route runs through: Chester Town Hall, St Werburgh Street, Eastgate St, Bridge Street, Pepper Street, St John’s Street, Eastgate Street; returning to the Town Hall for a finale via Northgate Street. 'The Midsummer Watch Parade' is one of Britain's oldest and most colourful street parades, originally staged by the City Guilds at Midsummer back in 1498.

For centuries the Red and Fallow deer at Tatton Park have roamed freely over 1,000 acres of beautiful parkland. Join the rangers for guided evening walks of the summer parkland. If you are lucky, observe newborn fawns and calves.

ARMED FORCES DAY

ARMED FORCES DAY

This day will centre around the Service personnel's parade through the town centre, starting at Crompton Street and finishing with a short service around the cenotaph in Wigan Parish Church at 11am by Canon Hutchinson. There will be a variety of military vehicles on display and stalls up and down Standishgate, along with family themed entertainment and fun for young and old to enjoy. The day will highlight the valuable contribution that service personnel make to both their country and to their local community. The day will focus on supporting the men and women who have served and are continuing to serve in Her Majesty's Armed Forces.
