We would be delighted to hear if you have uncovered your own hidden gem here in the North West. Please provide as much detail about your attraction as possible!
My son loves this swimming class! Aquanauts have classes over the Manchester area in small warm pools. Sessions are for babies and infants and include singing and playing as well as submersions. Please take a look at their website http://www.aquanauts.uk.com. I would highly recommend this company.
A bit of a risky suggestion, given the rivalry with Manchester, but we have rediscovered Liverpool over the summer hols. My kids and I have had so much fun exploring and there’s still so much we haven’t done. We’ve bought a Mersey explorer annual family ticket for £99 which gives us unlimited ferry/cruise crossings across the Mersey, unlimited entries to Spaceport Seacombe, the UBoat Story, the Beatles exhibition and the new Fab 4D experience (unique and this really is one to experience!). We’ve picnicked at Chavasse Park and peered down the glass floor below, visited the fantastic Mersey Maritime museum and Slavery museum (both free) and soaked in the atmosphere along the pier head. We still haven’t visited Bug World which opened in July at Albert Dock, the Tate (free) or the Liverpool Museum (free). I am told the latter is a great place for kids.
Eeek! I sound like a walking Mersey marketing campaign! But if you want some really special days out, Liverpool has got so much to offer!
Love all the park reviews in the “Babies in the City” book – I would also highly recommend Queens Park in Heywood, which has a fab playground and cafe (next to each other!) and also Tandle Hill Park in Oldham, a lovely woodland park, great for walks. You can look them up on local govt websites, or alternatively on my blog http://www.parklover.wordpress.com
I take my 3 yr old and 1 yr old to Run-a-mok indoor play centre in Rossendale, (www.runamokonline.com). I like the fact that I can see my 3 yr old around almost all of the large main play area/frame. It also has a small baby area and an area for under 4s, my 1 yr old loves throwing himself around the ball pit. They do a cracking Cappuccino and the food is nice too. I travel 10-15 mins down the motorway from Bury, its my favourite soft play area! Large and spacious, free hot drink on certain days of the week! Friendly, family run business, I think its fab!
We took our girls to Cotebrook Shire centre in Tarporley – they’re horse mad and loved it!
